Virginia L. Soares

On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Virginia L. Soares, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 96.

Virginia was born in Lemoore, California to A.P. and Virginia Oliveira. Her parents had immigrated from the Azores Island of Terceira. She was part of a large loving Portuguese family of nine children.

Virginia graduated from Lemoore High School and married Joe M. Soares in 1952 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lemoore.

She is survived by her three children Joe (Angela) Soares, Judy (Gerald) Yparrea and Janet Macedo; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister Nancy Rocha; sisters-in-law Margaret Oliveira, Kathy Oliveira and Mary Perry. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe M. Soares, son John Soares, grandsons Joseph Soares and Johnny Yparrea, brothers Tony (Louise), John, William and Alvin Oliveira, sisters Mary (Tony) Triguerio, Velma (Joe) Coelho and Lena (Manuel) Bettencourt, brothers-in-law Manuel (Antoinette) Soares and Tony (Eva) Soares.

Visitation for Virginia will be on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 4-7pm at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, Hanford, CA. A Rosary followed by mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hanford. Burial to follow at Calvery Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Building Fund, 10435 Hanford Armona Rd, Hanford, CA 93230.
