Tommy Long Obituary

Tommy G. Long, age 73, passed away, Sunday, August 17, 2025, at home in Lemoore, California, surrounded by his family.  Tommy “Fought the Fight” long and hard, but Cancer won anyway. Tom was born in Bakersfield CA, raised in Bakersfield, Armona, Lemoore CA., graduated from Lemoore High School in 1970 and married in 1974.

He retired from Last Chance Ditch Company. He very much loved his job and the people. Prior to Last Chance Ditch Company, he worked at Lemoore and Goshen NAPA then managed the Armona NAPA. He grew up working on the farm, L E HANSEN Farms learning from the best, Gerald Bickner and Bobby Schales. Then anything cars…..From Riley’s Arco to a Lot Boy at a car lot, he learned life.

Tom lived his dash well! From his love of old fast cars to taking nieces and nephews to the coast and Magic Mountain, to time spent at Dunes, the Ocean, boating, going to the mountains or just tinkering on stuff and best of all, visiting friends.

There’s nothing more important than that dash. the day you are born – to the day you pass, live it well, it’s the in between that is what counts and what you choose to do.

Tommy is survived by: Debbie, niece-daughter: Shawna Oxford Glazener of Alabama, sister: Vickie Alexander of Lemoore CA, brothers: David Long of Lemoore CA., Kerwin (Sandy) Long of Riverdale, CA., Galen (Cindy) Long of Hanford CA., Bruce Long of Taft CA. Many nieces & nephews, along with cousins that were more like brothers and sisters. Tommy is also survived by his aunt: June Sharp of Oklahoma. Tommy was preceded in death by: his mother: JoAnn Pusley Long, father: Kenneth Long, grandparents, sister: Jeannie Newton, as well as many aunts and uncles and friends.

Services will be Saturday September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeside Community Church, 16942 South 10th Ave, Hanford CA 93230. Corner of 10th Ave and Kent Ave (in the Country). Pastor Stanley Plooy officiating. A luncheon to follow at: Grangeville Oaks,18896 Grangeville Blvd (in the Country), Lemoore. CA. 93245
