Stanley A. Freitas, Sr., was received by our Lord and Savior as he passed away in his home on Sunday, April 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers.
Stan was born in Chowchilla, CA, on 10/4/1930 to Mike and Elsie. Stan was the youngest of five siblings; Roberta, Wilbur, Barbara, and Francis. Stan and his family relocated from Chowchilla to Hanford in 1945.
Stan enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1957. In 1952 he married his true love Lela Elliott. Together they raised two children, Diana and Stanley Jr., and shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Stan began his career as a mechanic at Bill Stevenson Ford from 1948-1960. He then farmed with his dad and brother from 1960-1965. From 1965-1970 he his dad partnered in the ownership of Freitas Land Leveling. In 1971, he assumed full ownership. After 50 years of driving tractor and building his business, Stan decided to semi-retire in 1998, thus passing the ownership torch to his son, Stanley, Jr.
In his younger years Stan was an avid drag car racer, winning many trophies in his ‘32 Ford. He was also a skilled seasonal deer hunter. Stan was a longstanding member of the Cabrillo Club, where he devoted many hours of service to the club and his role as Vice President. One of his favorite pastimes was venturing to Las Vegas where he and Lela would master the Tables, Slots and Keno. And of course, catch an Elvis show or two!
Stan is deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his daughter Diana and her husband Mark Coelho, his son Stanley Jr., and his wife Alisa, Grandchildren: Mark Coelho, Tori & Matthew Oliveira, Blake, Rebecca & Ciena Freitas, Great-Grandchildren: Blaine, Peyton, Logan & Coltan Oliveira, Darby, Britney & Haley Coelho and Great-Great-Grandson Kaysen Oliveira.
The family of Stanley Freitas would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Bernice Barcellonas, who for the past 13 years has been his faithful partner and companion.
Stan is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years Lela, his parents, siblings and in-laws.
