Socorra Abernathy

Socorra (Coco) Abernathy was called home to the Lord on Thursday July 11th,2024 at her home surrounded by family 

Born May 22,1955 in Hanford,CA, Socorra was the daughter of Juan Gonzales & Gonzala (Chala) Gonzales. She spend her early years attending elementary school at Lemoore Elementary and continued on to graduate high school from Lemoore High School in 1973. Her love for beauty inspired her to go to beauty school at Lyles Beauty College. She grew to love everything hair & makeup so much and she wouldn’t be caught without her hair done perfectly and glamorous makeup.

Socorra worked in retail for a portion of her life but made the decision to stay home to help raise all her nieces & nephews. She was everyone’s favorite aunt and loved all of her nieces and nephews like her own.

Socorra will be remembered for unconditional love and devotion to her family. She was the matriarch of the family and will be deeply missed

Socorra is survived by her siblings Mary Leinwar (Milton), Lucy Hikalea, Gloria Becerra (Silverio), Rose Angiloni (Dave), Jessie Gonzales, Jimmy Gonzales and numerous nieces and nephews. She’s proceeded in death by her parents and brother Joe Gonzales 

Visitation will begin at 5pm with a Rosary at 6pm on July 29th at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held July 30th at 10am at St Brigid Catholic Church in Lemoore
