Sharon Araujo Obituary

Sharon Darlene Araujo, 89, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at Summerfield Memory Care in Fresno, California. In her final years, she was surrounded by gentle care and compassion, a reflection of the love she had given so freely throughout her life.

Born July 8, 1936 in Compton, California to Olive Mae Sprague-Hofner and Frank Hofner. Sharon lived a life defined by warmth, kindness, and a deep devotion to her family. She found joy in life’s quiet, simple moments whether working for eight years at Benos Clothing Store, where her welcoming spirit brightened the days of those she met, or enjoying the comfort of a familiar routine at home.

Sharon had a special appreciation for the little things that made life meaningful. She loved losing herself in crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, relaxing with her favorite shows like American Idol, and feeling the peace and freedom that came with swimming. But more than anything, she cherished time with her family. Whether through a visit, a conversation, or simply sitting side by side, those moments filled her heart and meant everything to her.

She will be remembered for her gentle soul, her quiet strength, and the unwavering love she gave so selflessly. Sharon had a way of making those around her feel cared for and at ease, and her presence was a steady comfort to all who knew her. The love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and in the memories they hold dear.

Sharon is lovingly survived by her daughter, Kendra Araujo-White and her spouse, Robert White; her brother, Randy Cook; her grandchildren, Dylan Araujo-Mapel and his spouse, Cortnee Bowers, and Alyssa Witt and her spouse, Kody Witt; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Skylar Witt, Riley Mapel, Lane Witt, and Kinsley Mapel, who brought her immense pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Araujo; her son, Raymond Araujo; her sister, Glenda Snow; her brother-in-law, Ernie Snow; and her sister-in-law, Janice Cook.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Cemetery 40054 Calaveras Avenue in Coalinga, California, immediately followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge, 200 Cambridge Avenue, Coalinga, California.
