Seferina Marroquin Obituary

Seferina Marroquin, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by family on August 29, 2025 in Hanford, CA. She was born on August 26, 1937, in Tototlán, Jalisco, Mexico, to Leonardo and Concepcion Lupercio. At the age of nine, she and her family moved to Texas, where she attended school until the age of twelve.

Leaving her studies behind, Seferina dedicated herself to helping her parents raise and care for her younger siblings, a role that foreshadowed the life of love and service she would later build.

Seferina met her husband, Jacobo Marroquin, and together they began their lifelong journey.

After the birth of their first child, Maria, the couple moved to California in 1959, where they built their home and grew their family to eight children.

A devoted homemaker, Seferina dedicated her life to raising her children, keeping a warm and welcoming home, and traveling with her loved ones. Her home was always open-to family, friends, and anyone in need of a meal, a place to rest, or simply a welcoming space. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and endless hospitality. A faithful Catholic, Seferina was an active member of her parish for many years. She faithfully read her Bible every day and lived out her faith through acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle spirit, her tireless devotion to others, and especially for her homemade tortillas, which she lovingly prepared every single day and shared with countless people-each one a symbol of her love and care.

Seferina is preceded in death by her parents, Leonardo and Concepcion Lupercio; her husband, Jacobo Marroquin; her son-in-law, Lupe Rivera; and her brother, Max Lupercio.

She is survived by her beloved children:

• Maria Rivera, grandchildren Michael Tomczek, Stephanie Tomczek, and Ashley Rivera;

• John (Glenda) Marroquin, grandchildren Mark (Maribel) Marroquin and Gabriella Marroquin;

• Jane (Brian) Wickert, grandchildren Kaylee Wickert, Christopher (Devlynn) Wickert, Jessica Wickert, and Samantha Wickert;
