Roger Denham Obituary

Roger was born May 29, 1932, in Hanford, California, to Ivo and Vera Denham. He graduated from Hanford High School and went on to serve his country with honor. In July 1951, he joined the United States Army and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After leaving the military, he met his life partner Florence or as he would call her “Flori” and they began their life together with their children Gary, Penny, and Sandra. Roger worked as a roofer before beginning a long and dedicated career with Pacific Bell as a lineman. Through his hard work and commitment, he advanced to the role of supervisor and ultimately retired after 31 years of service. Roger was known as “Mr. Fix It,” always busy helping someone in need and never accepting payment for his work. He was generous with his time, talents, and endless knowledge. There was rarely a problem he would not try to solve for family, friends, or neighbors. His selflessness and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching his westerns and war movies with his sidekick Cisco snuggled right next to him. He often watched his favorite program, often known as the back of his  eyelids, that would occasionally be interrupted with someone quietly grabbing the remote and changing the channel. Soon after they would be met with “Hey, I was watching that!”. Whether he was fishing, spending summers in Oregon, or simply enjoying time with those he loved, he found his greatest joy in being with family and friends. He treasured sharing stories from his life with his loved ones, grandchildren, and the generations that followed, passing along memories, laughter, and family history. He also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially during the holidays, when the kitchen became a place of warmth, tradition, and togetherness.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Florence; his children, Gary and Pennie; five grandchildren Cole, Al, Todd, Reanna and Roman, 16 great-grandchildren Jared, Frankie, Israel, Jenessa, Mercedes, Kiarrah, Landon, Serenity, Mya, Roman (Buddy), Ciara, D’Angelo, Jasmine, Jayke, Nicholas and Thalia; seven great-great-grandchildren Frankie (Peanut), Avianna, Isabella, Gabriel, Ava, Nathan and A’leiyah; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two sidekicks Cisco and Chica. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Denham-Islas, his grandson Craig, his parents, Ivo and Vera Denham, and his siblings. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
