Rita L. Souza

Rita L. Souza, a lifelong resident of Hanford, CA, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016, after a brief battle with Leukemia, and with her loving family at her bedside. Rita was born on May 15, 1929, to Marion and Adelaide Gomes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joe Souza in 2002; her son, Charles Souza in 1980; her great-grandson, Rylan Macomb, in April of 2016, son-in-law, Dale Frey in 2011; and by her siblings, Cecelia Gomes, Elsie Lapp, Rosie Soares, Art Gomes and Richard Gomes. Rita is survived by her children, Bob Souza of San Diego, CA, and Marleen Frey of Hanford, CA. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, Krisi Macomb and husband Jason of Brentwood, CA, Shalee Coleman and husband Kevin of Sacramento, CA, and Shawn Frey of San Diego, CA. She leaves one sister, Barbara Aguayo of Oceano, CA.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Service, 100 W. Bust St., Hanford, CA on Thursday, May 19, 2016, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at St. Brigid Catholic Church beginning at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church on Friday, May 20, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. A Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Service.
