Richard M. Walker
12/14/1942 - 10/16/2024
Richard Milton Walker, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed peacefully from this life at home with his wife of almost 53 years, Lois by his side after a short bout with illness. He was a lifelong Hanford resident, a frank and honest person who was most often found close to home with his wife, kids, and grandkids around.
From time serving his country in Korea after being drafted to the Army during the Vietnam War to his career with Beacon Oil as a driver and dispatcher, Richard took pride in hard work and providing for his family. After retirement, he enjoyed working alongside his son Richard “Bo” Walker in various agricultural ventures from transport to farming. Richard loved the almond trees around his home and the quiet outside labor opportunities they provided.
Richard was a man of few words, preferring the comforts of home to boisterous crowds. He enjoyed old cars, drag racing, and watching sports – especially when there was a Coors Light in his hand and a wager on the line. Country living suited Richard. Sometimes he and Lois would jump on an atv and drive to the nearby canal for an afternoon swim. She truly was his perfect counterpart; her passionate, talkative self balancing his quiet, calm nature.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Lois (Avila) Walker, two children, Shelby Mancini (Vince) and Richard “Bo” Walker (Becky), four grandchildren, Amie and Jack Walker and Elena and John Mancini. He is also survived by a sister, Judy Dowd (Robert) and brother, Allyn Walker (Lena).
Services will be held graveside at Lemoore Cemetery on Wednesday, October 23rd at 11:00am.
