Ricardo Vasquez Tamez, 79, of Hanford, California, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Ricardo was born on February 18, 1947, in Los Fresnos, Texas, to Pedro Tamez and Maria Vasquez Tamez. He later made his home in Hanford, California, where he built a life centered around faith, family, and hard work. Ricardo was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Gloria Tamez, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a large and loving family that was the pride and joy of his life.

He is survived by his children: Diane Beals, Elizabeth Garza, Georgia Gutierrez, Pedro Tamez, Ricardo Tamez Jr., and Cynthia Miranda; and their spouses. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly. Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Tamez and Maria Vasquez Tamez. He also shared a special bond with his 12 siblings throughout his life.

Ricardo worked for many years at Stratford Growers Cotton Gin, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the casino, and working in his garden. He treasured the time spent outdoors with family and friends. He also loved dancing and playing his Tejano music. Known for his great personality, warm heart, and sense of humor, Ricardo was loved by many and will be remembered for the kindness, laughter, and love he brought into the lives of those around him. A faithful Catholic, Ricardo carried his faith with him throughout his life and found strength in his devotion to God and family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Visitation for Ricardo will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 4-7pm with a Rosary at 6pm at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, 100 W. Bush St, Hanford, CA 93230. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10355 Hanford-Armona Rd, Hanford CA. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
