Paul Banegas Obituary

Paul Alexander Banegas, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with his beloved wife, Inez, by his side.

Paul was born on July 17, 1934, in Hanford to Concha and Ernest Banegas. He spent most of his life in Hanford, a community he proudly called home. During his years of military service, he spent time living in Tacoma, Washington before returning to Hanford, where he remained surrounded by family and lifelong friends.

In May 1957, Paul was drafted into the United States Army and honorably served his country until his discharge in May 1963. He carried the values of service, dedication, and responsibility with him throughout his life.

Paul was a hardworking man whose strong work ethic was evident in every job he held. He worked as a butcher at Clements Lockers and State Market during his younger years, earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike. Before retiring, he worked in the warehouse at Standard Register, where he was recognized with an award for never missing a day of work in ten years—a testament to his reliability and commitment.

Outside of work, Paul enjoyed bowling, watching horse racing, visiting the casino, and spending time with family. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren compete in sports and celebrating their accomplishments. He was their biggest fan and was always proud to cheer them on from the sidelines.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Inez Banegas; his children, Deborah Teixeira (John) and Dario Banegas; his grandchildren, Erin Isbell, Martin Teixeira, Tiffany Leseman, Bridget Teixeira, John Teixeira, Derek Banegas, Christopher Banegas, Ryan Banegas, Samantha Hardy, and Tricia Reggler; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brothers, Henry Cano and Steven Cano; his sister, Connie Banegas; and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Concha and Ernest Banegas, and his brother, Felix Banegas.

Paul will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his love of country, and the quiet strength that guided him throughout his life. He took immense pride in his family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His legacy lives on through the generations that follow him and through the values of hard work, loyalty, and love that he instilled in those around him.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the many cherished memories they shared with him and in knowing that his life was well-lived and filled with love.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
