Patricia (Pat) Bettencourt-Verhaege, age 83, peacefully passed away on January 24, 2024, having exemplified unwavering strength through life's challenges. Born on May 7, 1940, in Hanford, CA, to Tony, Jr., and Mary Bettencourt, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Pat is survived by her children Michael Bettencourt (Brenda), Mark Bettencourt (Donita), Tim Verhaege (Debbie), Traci Avila (Larry), and Kim Cotta, along with 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her brother Norman Bettencourt, loving nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive her.
Pat, known for her talents as an Interior Decorator, turned blank walls into works of art. She enjoyed decorating for holidays and sharing her baking skills with her grandchildren. She cherished family time, hosting monthly lunches and annual gatherings with lifelong friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for February 14, 2024, at 10:30 am at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home in Hanford, CA. A viewing will be held on February 13, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a rosary following. The burial site ceremony at Calvary Cemetery in Hanford will follow the service on the 14th.
Family and friends are welcome to join a celebration gathering at Norman Bettencourt’s house on 7766 Houston Ave, Hanford, following the cemetery service.
