Nick Warmerdam died peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by his family, at the age of 86. A lifelong resident of Hanford, he was born on May 22, 1940, the son of John and Gezien Warmerdam.
Nick grew up on the family’s farm on 16th Avenue in Hanford, where his Dutch immigrant family had settled. He attended Hardwick Elementary School, graduated from Laton High School in 1959, earned a certificate in horticulture from Fresno State College, and served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve.
In 1970, Nick married Judy, and together they founded Warmerdam Orchards. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford.
Like the generations of Warmerdams before him, Nick was indebted to the people he had the privilege of working beside in the packing shed and in the fields over the years, and grateful to his family, his friends, his church, and the community of Hanford that was his home for a lifetime.
Nick is survived by Judy, his wife of 56 years; his children, Steven Warmerdam (Ji), David Warmerdam (Nicole), and Michele Bjornson (Garett); his grandchildren, Mina, Griffin, and Gavin; his twin brother, John Warmerdam; and his sister, Ann Badasci. He was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Warmerdam.
