Michael Irwin Travis, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Arroyo Grande, California, at the age of 79. Born in Los Angeles on October 7, 1945, Michael lived a life of service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Michael proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer and specializing in personnel management. After retiring from the Navy, he devoted his career to public service as a financial analyst and program director for Tulare County. His professional contributions were deeply valued, and his work made a lasting impact.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lorraine Travis; his children, Chris Travis, his wife Stacy, Richard Travis, his wife Tiffany, and Melissa (Travis) Sosa, and her husband Reynaldo; stepson Justin Stoner, his fiancé Angela, and stepdaughter Jolene Christensen and her husband Chad. He has 16 grandchildren Michelle Heiden Anderson, Brandi Travis, Joshua Travis, Amaya Travis, Miyanna Travis, Connor Travis, Matthew Travis, Emerson Travis, Donias Sosa, Dominic Sosa, Reynaldo Sosa, Abigail Vargas, Calista Stoner, Ryder Christensen, Caedmon Christensen, and Lily Christensen. He also have many great grandchildren.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Zada Marsh Travis, as well as his brother, Richard. Michael lived in Arroyo Grande for the past five years, where he enjoyed a quiet and fulfilling life.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Grangeville Cemetery in Armona at 1 p.m. with a celebration of life at the Lemoore Nazarene Church, 726 E D St., at 2 p.m.
