Mary Rubio, beloved mother, grammy, aunt, cousin, sister and friend passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 5, 1952, in Hanford CA to Florentino Porraz and Carmen Vasquez-Porraz. Mary was a devoted Catholic woman whose life was centered around faith, family, and prayer. She was a faithful servant of God who always believed that no problem was too great for prayer. She was a familiar and comforting presence at church, always sitting beside her daughter Sonia and grandson Owen. She prayed not only for her family, but for anyone in need, trusting fully that God would guide and protect them. She taught all of her grandchildren how to pray, trust in God, and love the Catholic faith.
She was a loving and dedicated mother who taught her daughters the importance of faith, kindness, family, and perseverance. She is survived by her five daughters: Catherine Saldana, Sonia Rubio, Maryann Espinoza, Caroline Caceres, and Teresa Rubio along with their spouses. She also leaves behind her seven cherished grandchildren who were the light of her life. Mary was reunited in heaven with her beloved son and her one grandchild, and her family finds peace knowing she is now with the Lord she loved so deeply.
Known lovingly as “Grammy,” Mary was the heart and soul of every gathering. She was the life of the party, always dancing, singing, laughing, and bringing joy wherever she went. She had the funniest sense of humor and was always making jokes that kept her family smiling and laughing together. Her warmth and energy made every moment special. Her greatest companion in life was her daughter Sonia, who stood by her side through everything. Together they were true partners in crime, sharing an unbreakable bond filled with love, faith, laughter, and devotion to family. One of Mary’s favorite times of the year was December, when she would gather her entire family together to pray the Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Those nights were filled with prayer, love, and togetherness as Mary faithfully prayed for her family and for anyone who needed strength, healing, or guidance. Mary also created countless beautiful memories with her grandchildren, especially their Sunday traditions of attending Mass together, going to the movies, and sharing meals at La Playita Mexican restaurant afterward. To her grandchildren, she was not only a Grammy, but a best friend, role model, and source of endless love. Mary’s legacy of faith, laughter, love, and devotion will continue to live on through everyone blessed enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and never forgotten
