Mary Alice Lopez, 91, passed away on October 16, 2024. Born on March 15, 1933, in Hanford, California, she lived a rich life marked by dedication to her family and friends.
Mary began her career as a secretary at the Kings County Welfare Department before transitioning to the Kings County Office of Education and retiring from the Tulare County Office of Education in the Migrant Education Program. Her professional journey was characterized by a commitment to service and excellence.
A member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Mary's faith was an important part of her life. She was known for her generous nature, devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She led by example with a trustworthy and generous spirit, always showing she cared and believed in those she loved. Mary was always ready to lend a helping hand and maintained high expectations for herself, which she met with grace and organization.
Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, quilting, and sewing. Mary cherished family gatherings, particularly during holidays, where she expressed her love through beautifully crafted tablescapes. She also enjoyed traveling to the Central Coast and attending local dinner dances with the "L and M gang".
Mary is survived by her children, Greg Lopez and his wife Andrea, Lynette Gonzales and her husband Mike, Pam Huffman and her husband Kenny, Richard P. Lopez II, and niece, Gloria Green, along with 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Lopez, and her parents, Ralph and Bertha Munoz.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 25 at Whitehurst-McNamara, with Visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 am, followed by a Rosary, Funeral, and Graveside Service.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her devoted caretaker, Jennifer Wilkinson and the caring staff at Kaweah Delta Hospital.
