On June 26, 2025, Martha (Marty) Eleanor Valdez (Gallegos) of Hanford passed away at the age of 69 years old after her long fight with cancer. Martha was born on February 24, 1956 to Frank and Eleanor Gallegos of Hanford, CA.
Martha was born and raised in Hanford, CA where she attended and graduated from Hanford High School in 1974. She attended College of the Sequoias from 1974 to 1976. Martha married Marcus Cruz Valdez of Hanford in 1977 and had three sons, Jason M. Valdez of Visalia, Anthony J. Valdez of Hanford, and Michael J. Valdez of Hanford.
Martha worked as a salesperson for Tupperware, Christmas Around the World, and Home Interiors. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for the Armona Union Elementary School District where she officially retired in 2015. Martha also had her own business Madam Marty’s Bowtique where she made hair ribbons, bows, tutu’s and during the pandemic face masks.
Martha was always involved with her son’s extracurricular activities such as Cub Scouts Leader, Catechism teacher, and Player Agent for Armona Little League. Her involvement included Team Mom for many of her son’s little league and pop warner football teams. Martha was also a member of the Hanford High School Quarterbacks Club. She was loved by so many of the players that she touched that many still call her “mom”.
Later in life, Martha enjoyed attending and cheering on her granddaughters at their dance recitals and competitions. Her family, friends, and traditions meant everything to her.
Martha is survived by her husband Marcus, married for 48 years. Her sons Jason (wife Diana), Anthony (wife Josalynn), Michael, and daughter-in-law Paula. Her grandchildren Ariana, Ava, Lilly, Giselle, Michael, Cruz, Jezzabel Valdez, Mike, Alyssa, and Jacob Cervantez. Her sisters Elisa D. Acosta (husband Ernest) of Chino Hills, CA, Susana B. Chavarria (husband Larry) of Lemoore, CA, and (4) great grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Eleanor Gallegos, and her brothers Frank and Alfred Gallegos.
A viewing will be held at Whitehurst McNamara, on July 10, 2025. 4-7 P.M. with a Rosary at 6 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held on July 11, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, at 10 A.M. followed with a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Hanford Fraternal Hall following.
