Our beloved Leonardo Carrillo Barriga passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 23, 2026, in Dinuba, CA
Born in Madera, CA, Leonard grew up traveling between the Imperial Valley and the Central Valley with his family as they followed the seasons, working hard together in the agricultural fields.
After graduating from Calexico High School, he decided to venture out on his own. Having spent time in the Central Valley, he decided to attend Fresno City College to major in business and played basketball there as well. There he met Anita, whom he eventually married and had three children with.
After more than 20 years of working for companies and moving his young family between Central Valley, Salinas Valley and Imperial Valley, he decided to put roots down in Hanford, CA. There he continued to raise his family, this time working for himself, a goal he desired to achieve for many years. Still working in produce, he prospered there with his own business. Working hard, long days to provide for his family.
Leonard valued himself as a savvy businessman and earned widespread respect and recognition in his field. He was a determined and driven man which carried him to achieve a well-deserved retirement. A true inspiration to his friends and family as they watched him achieve his long-awaited goal of building his own home and settling in a place where he longed to be. His love for trucks was unmistakable, and they were his pride and joy, but they didn’t take the place of his family, whom he loved dearly.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents: Leonardo Alfredo Barriga and Guadalupe Carrillo Barriga. His brother Jesus Barriga, sister Juana Carrillo Cendejas and brother Jose Calderon Carrillo.
He is survived by siblings: sister Elena Carrillo Rodriguez, sister Angelina Barriga Tatro, sister Guadalupe Barriga Garcia, brother Luis M Barriga and sister Maria Teresa Barriga Salgado.
Children: son Adam Barriga, daughter Diana Barriga and daughter Graciela Garcia. Grandchildren: Christian Barriga, Savannah Flores, Nathaniel Barriga, Evianna Barriga, Roman Garcia, Soleil Salinas, and Greyson Garcia Great-Grandchildren: Jamie Flores and Isla Flores
