Josef Weindel Johnson Bercher born August 20th, 1939, and died September 1st, 2024. His parents were Josef and Laurena Bercher of Cayuga Texas. Joe graduated from Carson Long Military Academy. After his graduation he attended Texas A&M University. Joe enlisted in the Navy in 1959. He married his loving wife Edyth Lee Claudat in 1960. Together they traveled the world.
Their daughter Sarah Lee Bercher was born 1976. His career in the Navy was 22 years. He then retired as Senior Chief. Joe was a Vietnam Vet, who worked on several different aircraft, and even worked on the last two active blimps (lighter than air). Joe and Edy were active in First Baptist Church Hanford. They made many friends and hosted exchange students from all over the world. He enjoyed the JC’s Club and was on the Board of Directors for the YMCA.
Joe is survived by his wife Edyth Lee Bercher, his daughter Sarah Lee Bercher as well as five grandchildren (Andru, Conner, Aubrie, Lexie and Machiah-Joe). Joe will be greatly missed as a Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. Services for Joe will be held on Friday October 4th at 10:00 a.m. in Hanford, at Hanford Cemetery.
