John C. Semas

John C. Semas was born to Antonio and Julia (Mello) Simas on October 11th, 1930 in Burrel, CA.  He passed away on 6/22/2026, at the age of 95.

He grew up in Hanford and Lemoore.  He was a decorated Korean War Veteran serving from February 1952 until 1954.  In 1950 he met Lena Brazil at a dance and couldn’t forget her brilliant blue eyes.  They married December 1951 and were married for 74 years.  John began his career as a dairyman with his brother Joe Semas in 1950 and retired in 1982.  He then worked for the Kings County Road maintenance division and retired in 1994.  

He was an active Knights of Columbus member for over 40 years with a 4th degree.  His participation with Knights of Columbus included many linguica feeds, pancake breakfasts, breakfasts for the awards banquet and providing food for the equipment sale auction.  Dad sold thousands of Knights of Columbus tickets for many events.

We want to express thanks to so many people who have participated in John’s life throughout the years plus those caregivers who assisted him in his final years.  He was a great friend and supporter to so many in our community.  We want to personally thank nephew Michael Semas, Cecil Foster and Tom DeSantos for their support.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Semas; granddaughter Paige Morales; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Geneveive Semas; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Alton Costa; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Mary Semas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Virginia Brazil; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Adeline Montgomery and brother-in-law Clay Culp.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Semas; children, John Semas Jr. and Michelle Semas, Richard and Marianne Semas, Flavio Semas and Sterling Van De Moortel, LeAnn Semas, James and Karen Semas, and Susan and Doug Wisecarver; and his siblings Ann Culp, Daniel and Judy Simas; along with many grandchildren, John Semas III and Talia, Tracy Hale and Jonathan, Erin and Jeffrey Ishii, Courtney Lupercio, Colby and Emma Semas, Justin and Shae Semas, Austin and Brenna Semas, Lee and Alicia Wisecarver and Madeline Wisecarver and Marcos Diaz; and great-grandchildren, Coraleigh Semas, Jonathan and Jessica Hale, Aiden Ishi; Woodrow, Callahan, and Luella Semas and Jaiden, Keeli, Callie, Everly and Paislee Semas, Sadie and Calvin Wisecarver.
