John Crosswell Obituary

John Harmon Crosswell, age 81, was born in McAlester Oklahoma on February 20th, 1943. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 19th, 2024. John was preceded in death by his parents Hack and Myrtle Crosswell, sister Carolyn Harwell, brother Jeff Crosswell, and grandson Derek Blatner. John was raised in Placerville, California. He was drafted into the Army in 1961 at the age of 18 and served two years in Korea. On his return to the states, he followed in his dad’s footsteps and went to work in tunnel construction. A few years later he bought a bee business from his cousin Wilbur Shirley which he named Crosswell Pollination. John settled in Hanford, CA and later moved the business to Lemoore where it became Island District Honey Company. His passion in life was beekeeping and he ran a successful business for over 50 years. One of his favorite things was to jump in the truck and head to the mountains to check on the bees. John grew up hunting and fishing and passed that tradition on to his kids. He enjoyed collecting guns, watching Nascar, and the Oklahoma Sooners. He loved a good card game (poker) specifically and was one of the best at rolling dice. John lived his life to the fullest and on his terms. He was always one you could turn to when you needed help or a swift kick in the ass. He loved his family fiercely and will be forever missed. John is survived by his children; Todd (Tracy) Crosswell, Johnna Crosswell, Suzanne (Scott) Silva, Jason (Caroline) Crosswell, and Jacob Stockton. He is survived by his sister-in-law Debbie Crosswell and nephews Barry and Alan Harwell. John is survived by 12 grandchildren: Ashton Hill, Jordan Hultin, Cody Crosswell, Jordan Wallace, Jacklynn Charron, Jordan Silva, Mason Silva, Dustin Silva, Hailey Silva, Steven Crosswell, Max Crosswell, and Tyler Crosswell. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren: CJ, Claire, Camille, Emmalyn, Nathan, Maddox, Owen, Bodhi, Oliver, and Abel. A graveside service will be held at Sunflower Fields Cemetery in Lemoore, California on September 18th at 9:00 AM with a celebration of life following.
