Joan Faria

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan M. “Jody” Faria, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jody peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hanford, CA, Jody was the cherished wife of farmer and dairyman, Gerald Faria. Together, they shared a beautiful life, raising three wonderful children. Jody's legacy of love and dedication extended to her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Jody was the grandest homemaker, known far and wide for her legendary peach cobbler, which delighted family and friends alike. Her home was a haven of warmth, hospitality, and delicious aromas.

An active member of the community, Jody was a member of the Red Hats Society, where she formed lasting friendships. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted participant in Bible study. Jody's vibrant spirit shone brightly in her outrageous card group, where laughter and camaraderie were always in ample supply. In her earlier years, Jody was a dedicated member of the PTA and played a significant role in 4-H, supporting her children and the local youth with enthusiasm and commitment.

Jody's life was a testament to love, faith, and community. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 1001 N. Douty St., Hanford, CA followed by burial services at Lemoore Cemetery, 1441 N. Lemoore Avenue, Lemoore, CA and reception to follow at Children’s Storybook Garden & Museum, 175 E. 10th St., Hanford, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at Cancer.org, in honor of Jody's generous and loving spirit.
