Irene Jean Borba (Silva), 90, of Hanford, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 22, 2026, in Fresno. Born in Fresno to Jesse Arthur Sr. and Velma Eleanore Silva (Mattos). She married Joseph C. Borba in July 17, 1954.
Irene was known for her Portuguese sweet bread and donuts (filozes), her love of gardening, lovely doll collection, and also sewing uniforms for Hanford High swing flag and letter girls. She found happiness in raising her 3 daughters, enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.
Irene and Joe built several successful businesses including Valley Pump and Tractor, B&P Liquor and Farmer's Hardware in addition to their farming and cattle business.
Irene is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law Brenda and Neil Burson of Sanger, Sharon Nunes of Highland and Debbie Lawrence of Hanford: her 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Megan and Jordan Burson, Kristopher and Kevin Nunes and David and Dustin Lawrence and 6 great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2008 and beloved son-in-law Richard Nunes in 2016. She will join Joe in eternal rest at the Lemoore Cemetery.
Service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 3rd at Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford. Catholic Burial will immediately follow at the Lemoore Cemetery.
