Hilda J. Freitas Supiran was called to Heaven on September 23, 2025, at the age of 94. Hilda was born in Hanford to Frank and Bertha Azevedo and was one of ten children.
She lived most of her life in Hanford, where she met her husband, Joe Freitas, and held various jobs. She began by feeding calves on a dairy, later painted houses with her sister, and eventually remarried to Ernie Supiran. Together, they moved to Los Angeles, where she worked at the Santa Anita Racetrack for 15 years. After retiring, she settled in Pismo until 2019, when she returned to Hanford to enjoy her later years.
Hilda was a beautiful example of love, faith, and devotion. She always made sure to look her best, never leaving the house — or even her room — without being put together. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: reading, cooking, making jam, and most of all, cherishing time spent with her family.
Hilda is survived by her five children Rosemary Freitas(Lemoore), Joe Jr. and Janet Freitas(Arroyo Grande), Manuel Freitas(Hanford), Gene and Sandy Freitas(Grover Beach), Jeanette Costa and Joe(Montana). Hilda is also survived by twenty five grandchildren, fifty one great grandchildren, thirty five great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild. Hilda also has many loved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Bertha Azevedo, Joe Freitas Sr., Carol Freitas, Ernie Supiran, and Rhonda Cotta Alvarez.
Our family would like to thank Valley Christian Home for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
A viewing will be held on October 1st from 4-7pm at Whitehurst McNamara funeral home. Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on October 2nd beginning at 10am at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well lived.
“Her love was our blessing, and her memory will be our treasure forever.”
