It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henrique Jeronimo Toledo, who passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 2nd, at the age of 90. Henrique was born on September 29, 1934, to Henrique and Francisca Toledo, in Agualva, Terceira. Henrique grew up in Agualva and lived there until 1974, when he, his wife, and kids immigrated to the United States, in hopes of providing their family with a better life. Upon arriving in the states, Henrique and his family settled in Hanford, California.
Henrique worked as a milker for a large portion of his life here in Hanford, specifically for the Paulo Brothers Dairy and The Valadao family. He worked hard to provide for his family, with a commitment to providing them with all of their needs, regardless of the sacrifices he had to make. Despite the challenges of starting a new life in a foreign country, Henrique remained steadfast in his belief that hard work and determination would ensure a better future for his wife and children. Outside of work. After retiring from his work as a milker, Henrique spent time with his wife Maria, raising livestock, particularly cows and goats. He thoroughly loved working with animals, and it brought him great joy to care for them. Anyone who remembers him, knows that he found peace in the routine of feeding, tending, and watching over his animals
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria Encarnacao Toledo, and his six children, Matilda Toledo, Maria Vaz (Frank), Adrianna Perez (Elder), Anna Toledo (Shane), Connie Cordero, and Manuel Toledo. In addition to his children, his memory will also live on in his grandchildren: Tom Ochoa, Jennifer Ochoa (Matilda), Frankie Vaz, Natalie Baumgartner, Brandon Vaz (Maria), Sharika Glass, Lynn Glass, and Adrianna Agbogidi (Adrianna), Rebecka Toledo and Logan Woods (Anna), Gregory Cordero, Marlana Cordero, Matthew Cordero, Masson Cordero, and Destinee Cordero (Connie), and Liandra Toledo, Liandro Toledo, and Chloe Toledo (Manuel).
Henrique will be remembered by his hard work ethic, his love for his family, his love for raising livestock, and his love for his culture, especially watching the Benfica soccer team and listening to Contrigua.
