Our sister, Genevieve Reynoso, passed away on July 10, 2025. Genevieve was born in Hanford, CA and lived her whole life in the Central Valley. She graduated from Lemoore High School in 1972 and then went to live in Fresno.
She was a long-time employee of the Fresno Unified School District, first as an instructional paraprofessional and then, as a library clerk. She was an active member of the California School Employees Union. She served in several elected positions, including President for several terms. She worked on the negotiation teams, insurance committees and was a trained labor advocate. She was honored with CSEU’s state “Golden Bear” award for outstanding political activism. Gen was a member of the Kings County’s Friends of the Library” for several years.
She was the oldest of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Olivia (Sarco) Reynoso and sister, Margaret. She is survived by siblings Elizabeth, Lawrence, Patrick, Richard, Andrew, Theodore, Daniel and Katherine. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her uncle, Lawrence Sarco.
Viewing and Rosary will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 5-7pm with Rosary at 6pm at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, 100 W. Bush St., Hanford CA. Mass will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 10435 Hanford-Armona Rd, Hanford with graveside services following at Calvary Cemetery, 11680 S. 10th Ave, Hanford.
