Esther Pimentel Obituary

Esther Jane Pimentel, 84, of Hanford, CA, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on March 19, 2024.  Esther was born in Santa Rosa, CA on February 15, 1940 to Herbert and Pauline Hood.  She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1958 where she then worked as an assistant cook at the local hospital. Esther's passion for dancing led her to meet her beloved husband, Joe, whom she married on November 28, 1964.

Together, Joe and Esther started their family in Sonoma where they began raising their children Joe Jr, John, and Ann while Joe worked for a local dairy.  In 1973, the family moved to Lemoore to start their own dairy business where they had their 4th child, Lilly, then eventually settled in Hanford and had their final son, James.

Esther was not only a devoted homemaker but also an integral part of the dairy operation, working alongside her husband until her children could assist. Her warmth extended beyond her family, as she was cherished by all who knew her. Esther's unwavering support and love were evident in her attendance at her children and grandchildren's sporting events, county fairs, and Portuguese Festas. She could always be found in the stands cheering on her grandchildren and never missed the opportunity to show her love and support for her family and community.

As a devout Catholic, Esther enjoyed going to mass at St. Brigid Catholic Church followed by breakfast at her favorite restaurant, Chubby’s Diner. Her sweet tooth was well- known, and her home was always stocked with ice cream bars, cookies, apple pies from McDonalds, and donut holes.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents Herbert & Pauline Hood, brother William Hood, sister Liz Jurado, in-laws John F & Palmira Pimentel, brothers-in-law Frank V. Pimentel, John V. Pimentel, Tony V. Pimentel, Frank Carreiro, Dan Jurado & Jesse Martinez, sisters-in-laws Loretta Hood, Mary Andrade, & Inez Carreiro and nephews Billy Hood and Joey Andrade.  Esther is survived by her husband Joe, her children Joe Jr., John (Mary), Ann (Luis), Lilly, James (April), 11 grandsons and 2 granddaughters: John Paul (Katie), Anthony, Jacob (Emily), Ashley, Joshua, Adam, Gavin, Amanda, Joseph, Jake, Jared, Donovan, and Jordan; 4 great grandchildren: Braydon, Rhett, Trace, and Alice along with numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, brother Herbie Hood, and sister Kathleen Martinez.
