Eloisa Maes

Eloisa Herrera Maes, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024. She and her twin brother were born on August 3, 1934, in Maxwell, New Mexico to Candido and Celia Herrera, their sixth and seventh children.

Eloisa grew up in a big and loving family and had fond memories of growing up on a large ranch. She was voted "Most Beautiful" at her high school. She worked at Woolworths and loved going to dances where she met Benjamin Maes.

Eloisa and Benjamin married in July, 1956, and they settled in Hanford, California. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Hanford Elementary School District. She and Benjamin enjoyed going to dances with close neighbors and friends, and hosting and attending parties. She was an active member of the Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin, and by her siblings. Eloisa leaves her children Diane Rodriguez, Patricia Maes (Rudy Aquilina), Laine Yerga, JoAnne (Jim) Peterson, Robert (Natalie) Maes. She had eight grandchildren, three step-grandsons, and two great grandchildren. She had many nieces, nephews, and their families who also loved her.

Private funeral and burial services will be held in late May. Eloisa will be greatly missed.
