Edward O. Candelaria

Edward O. Candelaria, a man of strength and love, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024, held in the loving arms of his devoted grandson, Jake Candelaria.

Born on April 29, 1943, in Corcoran, California, to Edward O. Candelaria Sr. and Inez Candelaria, Edward led an extraordinary life that touched the hearts of many. Though his formal education was limited, his achievements were vast and impactful.

On May 21, 1961, Edward married Janie Flores. Together, they built a home and a family in San Jose, California, where Edward worked diligently as a sanitary truck driver for the city. Beyond his career, Edward's passion for bodybuilding led him to become a master champion, earning numerous titles throughout his impressive athletic journey.

Edward's love for his family knew no bounds. He cherished his brothers, Fernando and Robert Candelaria, and held dear memories of his departed brothers, Johnny, Arnold, and Arthur Candelaria.

Edward's legacy lives on through his daughters, Karen Candelaria-Martinez and Janie Candelaria, and his four grandchildren, Sabrina Stoddard, Jake Edward Candelaria, Alicia (Tinka) Martinez-Candelaria, and Isabel Inez Martinez Candelaria, who all affectionately called him "Papa."

Edgar and Karen Martinez deeply thank Jake Candelaria for his unwavering love and care for his grandfather. Jake's selfless devotion and constant presence brought Edward immense joy and comfort in his final days.

A viewing and rosary will be held in honor of Edward on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 11 AM to 2 PM at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Service, 100 W. Bush Street, Hanford, CA 93230. A reception will follow at St. Brigid's Youth Center, 319 N. Harris Street, Hanford, CA 93230.
