Dorothy Mae (Slocum) Whitlock was born on December 25, 1937, to Floyd and Maie Slocum. Dottie grew up and attended school in the Armona area, where she participated in the 4-H program while living at the Slocum Ranch.
After graduating high school, she settled in the Visalia area where she was well-known for owning and operating her beauty shop. She also enjoyed bowling and time with family. It was in Visalia that she met Jack Boudakian. A love affair resulted, and they would not part until Jack’s passing in 2023. Together they enjoyed attending and participating in drag racing, trips to various points of interest throughout the country, and time with family and friends. Dottie passed from this life on March 22, 2024.
Dottie is survived by her son Randy Whitlock, three grandchildren, Rebecca Whitlock, Kelsi (Whitlock) Blaul, and Daniel Whitlock, and six great-grandchildren, Cloey and Athan Castro, Nahla and Zephyr Balegal, and Jude and Jensen Blaul. She is also survived by her loving brother, Vernon Slocum, his children Mark Slocum, Sherri Holland, Dean Slocum and Lori Valentine, along with her nieces and nephews, Phillip Slocum, Pam Spencer, and Peter Slocum.
Dottie was preceded in death by her children Rhonda, Becky, and Ronald Whitlock; also, her grandson Randon Whitlock. She had also lost her brother Floyd, his wife Irene, and sister-in-law and gambling buddy, Betty Slocum.
Throughout her life, Dottie tried to have a positive outlook even in tough times. If she were here today, she would remind us to take care of the ones we love and focus on the things in life that make us happy.
