Our dear mother passed away on March 2, 2024, at Kings Nursing in Hanford, due to an illness. She was born on December 29, 1935, in Brackettville, Texas to Versie Jewel Barnett (Shaw) and John Barnett who predeceased her in death. She was 88 years young.
She was the second child of five, they were Lorena Lloyd, Mildred Chick, John Westfall and Alice Villagran who predeceased her in death. She is survived by her daughters Denise and husband Jim Wilson, Kimberly Collins, a son Richard Carrillo and a son Charles Welch, who predeceased her. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had been a resident of Hanford and Lemoore for 50 years. She worked as a waitress and short order cook at Lemoore Naval Air Station.
Our mother was a fashionista at heart, she had to always match. She loved her accessories and always was up to date on the latest styles. Her hobbies were shopping for hours and ending it with a good Mexican or Chinese dinner, which included a ridiculous amount of salt before tasting it. Donna, also known as GG, had a vibrant sense of humor not appropriate for paper, she loved to talk on the phone and truly loved her family. We will dearly miss those wonderful conversations with her.
Her celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at Calvary Hanford Chapel from 11-2.
NO WORDS
There are no words to truly say
Just what you meant to me
There are no words that can convey
How much I long to see
Your smiling face just one more time
To hold your arms so close in mine
To stop time, just for you and me
