Darrell Allen Box

Darrell Allen Box, age 80, of Hanford, California, passed away April 27, 2026. He was born in Perkins, Oklahoma, and spent much of his life in California, where he will be laid to rest in Hanford.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Milas and Ruby Box; his brothers, Billy and Kermit Box; and his sisters, Phyllis Froley and Doris Nell. He is survived by his brothers, Bobby and Jack Box; his beloved longtime companion, Bear; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Darrell dedicated over 40 years of his life working as a tree trimmer, landscaper, and groundsman. He also proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Darrell would all agree that he had a heart of gold. He was kind, generous to a fault, and always willing to give, even when he had little himself. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, often treating strangers like lifelong friends. To many, he was simply known and loved as “Uncle Darrell.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Home in Hanford, California.
