Charlie Garcia 90, of Hanford California was called to heaven on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, at Adventist Medical Center surrounded by his wife and loved ones.
Charlie was born in Los Angeles, California on April 23rd, 1934, to Frank and Vera Garcia. He was the 3rd of 15 siblings (11 brothers and 3 sisters). He later would settle in Hanford, California, where he met and married his wife of 69 years. Together they raised 6 children and 2 grand children
Charlie is survived by his wife Mary Garcia, son Charlie Garcia of Hanford, daughters Liz Garcia of Visalia, Rosemary, (Roger Miller) of Fresno, Sophia Garcia-Carrillo of Hanford, Angelica, (Luis Silvestre) of Hanford, grandsons Anthony (Carolina Padilla) of Hanford, and Chuck (Gomie Padilla) of Hanford. Charlie was a grandfather to 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 14 great- great grandchildren.
Charlie retired in 1994 after 30 years of construction, where he specialized in curb and gutter and was a part of many construction projects throughout the Central Valley. One of the projects he was most proud of was the construction of the Corcoran State Prison. He will always be remembered for the many hours he spent meticulously taking care of his yard, which he still worked on till the age of 89, also for his love for the Las Vegas Raiders and was looking forward to the upcoming season. Always quick with humor wanting to put a smile on everyone’s face. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Charlie will be deeply missed.
Charlie is preceded in death by 11 brothers, 1 sister, a granddaughter Cynthia Padilla, Daughter Linda Garcia and son-in-law Ruben Carrillo.
Private Family Viewing will be Thursday. A funeral mass will be held Friday, July 28th at 9:30am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. All arrangements are under the direction of Whitehurst Mc Namara Funeral Home.
