Barbara Jean Bettencourt, 81, of Hanford, passed away June 3, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Mamie Bettencourt and brother, Richard.
Barbara is survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Bettencourt, her nieces Lisa (Rick) Volpo and Lori Bettencourt Dodd; nephew/godson Aaron Bettencourt and his partner, Diana; great nephews and nieces Zach and Adam Volpo and Aubree, Brielle and Landon Dodd; cousins and friends.
Barbara was born February 26, 1944, and was a lifelong resident of Hanford, CA. She graduated from HUHS in 1962. Barbara worked as a hairdresser for over 40 years, owning her own salon in the early years, then working in several local salons over the years, making long-lasting friendships with her clients. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Hairapy and Shear Magic salon.
Barbara was a member of the Cabrillo Club No. 9 and SPRSI of Hanford. She was a devout member of St. Brigid Catholic Church where she was served as Liturgical Environment Minister, led bible study and served as Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. Barbara will be remembered as a beloved hairdresser, faith-filled godmother/confirmation sponsor, and a loving, creative, aunt.
A Rosary at 10:00 am will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, followed by 10:30 am Mass at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford. A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
