Augustina "Tina" Gallegos

Augustina “Tina” Gallegos, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, at home in Clovis, CA.  Born on June 25, 1932, Tina lived a long, wonderful life.  Tina retired from the Kingsburg School district where she worked as a bilingual teacher’s aide and for 40+ years, she worked summers at Del Monte Cannery.  Tina was a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. With Tina you could always count on a good discussion about current affairs and political issues. 

Tina is survived by her daughters Beverly Vargas and Katie Heymer (Paul); and grandchildren Joshua Heymer (Diana) and Sara Heymer (Dontae Rissling).  She leaves behind her brothers Raul and Tony Vasquez; sister Carol Guerra; step-daughters Delores Hernandez (Benjamin), Kathy Mendoza (Gabriel) and Barbara Hellman.  

Tina was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Vargas; and second husband James Gallegos; her son Fred Vargas; her parents, Mariano and Marcelina Vasquez, and her siblings, Delfina Leal, Frank Vasquez, Laura Vasquez, Jennie Vasquez and Andy Vasquez. Tina will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.  Her family is especially thankful for the support of Saint Agnes Hospice.

No visitation services will be held. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 9:30 am with funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church located at 10435 Hanford-Armona Rd, Hanford, CA. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery located at 11680 S. 10th Ave, Hanford, CA. Services entrusted to Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Service, Hanford, CA.
