Ann E Nickel, beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 in Henderson, Nevada at the age of 89. Born on June 26, 1936 in Hanford, California; she was the cherished daughter of Arthur Butts and Lula Bell Butts. As a young girl she grew up on a farm and was a school majorette. Ann loved dancing and following car racing, especially NASCAR. Ann loved her job as a meat wrapper for over 20 years at Big John’s Food King in Hanford, CA.
After retirement she enjoyed spending her summers in her home on the shore of Flathead Lake in Montana and the winters in Nevada. She loved traveling, taking trips to Alaska, Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Italy as well as traveling all over the United States by motorhome. Ann was always up for an adventure, walking, hiking, picking cherries in Montana and road trips. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Ann is survived by her son, Richard Evans and his wife Patty, granddaughters Michelle Why and husband Bob and Amanda Venteicher and husband Nick. As well as four grandsons, Rylee, Bradlee, DaCotha & Jet, two great-granddaughters, Ashton & Hadlie and two great-great granddaughters, Ellee and Athena. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Cherry Mattias.
Ann’s father Arthur Butts and mother Lula Bell Butts, brother Jerry and husband Jess Elliott proceeded her in death.
Ann’s laughter, sense of adventure, loving nature and smile will be greatly missed and remembered.
Funeral Services for Ann will take place on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 10am at Whitehurst McNamara Funeral Home, 100 W. Bush St., Hanford, CA. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 19811 S, Cedar St. Laton, CA
